The Daimler AG has developed an innovative three-day training format where expats and inpats join to reflect on their roles, responsibilities, objectives, and cultural imprints together with their spouses, if applicable. Even child-care is catered to.
Called »Fit for Abroad«, the format intentionally offers very little culture-specific information. Only during an evening session with Daimler expats who have returned from assignments in the target cultures these questions are addressed, so as not to build up stereotypes that lateron may prove to be an obstacle during adaptation processes and the development of essential intercultural competencies, such as the tolerance for ambiguity.
intercultures trainersDrissia Schroeder-Hohenwarth, Chunhu Wang, and Stefan Meister had the chance to test and experience the challenging and enriching format which differs refreshingly in time frame and focus from standard expatriate trainings so common in the field.
